Most of us at some point in our lives have made a New Years Resolution, some of us even make lists of them. What we want to change, things we want to accomplish, how we want to present ourselves. All the changes we want to make leading into a new year.
Personally I believe God LOVES that his children desire to renew themselves, make improvements, wanting to be the best we can be and make the best of the time he has given us on Earth. I also believe that God is a jealous God and wants us to start focusing our resolutions around him; our spiritual walks, our closeness to the Father. Make resolutions around what the living word says. God wants to be the focus of our year. He wants all of us to desire to be a better people, have dreams, visions, and goals for ourselves . The problem though is that most of us FORGET the resolutions we do make or maybe they just last a week or so and we simply give up and fall back in our old ways and never live out the declarations we declared for the new year.
As i was thinking about this past year, I realized that as God fulfilled some of his promises to me, I simply became more and more distant from him because of the responsibilities in those promises. The biggest one for me was God blessing me with a Job after unemployment for 5 months. I knew what His word said, so i trusted him, prayed and walked so strongly in him. Sure enough Papa provided me with a job. Soon though I started getting into routine, praying less, spending less time with him, giving him less of me. As I realized this, I decided that this new year would bring an awakening over me and I would start giving back more to God, more of my time is his, all my thoughts will be his. My schedule is his. If our resolutions or our changes wont bring us closer to God, then we need to make new changes or get better resolutions. Make your resolution the thing you pray about every night, and surely then you will NOT FORGET.
God has much he wants to do with us! I declare 2014 is filled with spiritual awakening and renewal and that we live out the resolutions we have made in Jesus Name!
