The fullness of Jesus can't be explained in my blog... The Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:16, "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness. God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the World, Received up in glory." But let's take a quick look on who the Bible says Jesus is.
There are so many people who claim to know Christ, and there are so many "versions"(portrayals) of Him, but only one can be correct. How do we know which portrayals of Christ are correct? There's one thing every authentic believer on this planet has in common. We believe that the Bible is the perfect Word of God. Why? Because the men who physically wrote the Bible sat with Jesus, they ate with Jesus, they saw Jesus die, and they saw Him resurrected in His glory. These were men who gave their lives for the sake of the Gospel. Great miracles were done through these men. The Word says in Galatians 1:8, "But even if we, or an angel from Heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!" 2 Timothy 3:16 says, "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness." Now, are you going to believe their account, or someone born in 1989 with a new world view? I once read, "Man is no more the author of the Bible than my laptop is the author of this post I'm writing." The men of the Bible were simply God's tools to give the World His message. So, let's let the Bible speak for itself.
So now that we know we can trust the Bible, let's ask some questions.
What did Jesus Say About Himself?
Jesus wasn't shy in talking about Himself. Although Christ was extraordinarily meek, He did not hide who He was.
"I am the light of the World. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." - John 8:12
"All things have been handed over to Me by My Father, and no one know who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him." - Luke 10: 22
"Jesus said unto him, I AM the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes unto the Father, but by me." -John 14:6
What was His purpose here on Earth?
What was the purpose of it all? Jesus left His throne in Heaven to walk with us. Let's see what the Word says.
"The thief comes only to steal kill and destroy; I have come that they might have life, and life more abundantly." -John 10:10
"And he said, 'The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.'"
-Luke 9:22
"You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
-Romans 5:6-8
What do I do now?
Jesus has paid the price for our sin. The Bible says that the wages of sin is death. God is completely without sin and our sin has separated us from God. But because Jesus died (and was raised from the dead) for us we can now have a relationship with God. Imagine someone walking into a courtroom and confessing to a crime that you committed even though they were innocent. Now, to receive the gift of salvation, here's what you do.
"...Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." -Acts 2:38
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." -Matthew 7:21
"Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me." -Revelation 3:19-20
