As a college student I am required to take many classes outside of my major. Sometimes these classes can seem like hoops that need to be jumped through. Other times they seem like precious jewels to be cherished. Recently, I have felt that way with my Political Science class. In this class we have been discussing how the US government was formed and the ideals and principles that act as the foundation of our society. One of these principles is that American citizens should vote, but not only vote, but be educated about what they are voting for. We as Americans can vote any way we choose, whether or not we are informed about the issues is up to us, but in order to be society based off of sense we must be educated about the issues we fight for and hold so dearly to our hearts. In the same way we must be sensible about our politics we must be sensible about our world views. Americans can no longer blindly jump into this "culture war" for the sake of picking a "side." Before we go on that long rant on a controversial we have to remember that the person on the other side of that computer is a person, and in order to get anywhere with anyone we must approach them with love.
